"As simple as 1 2 3"
Still struggle with fancy words or jargon
Likely due to leaving school so young
Caught up with a strange collection of faces
Tagging along to all the wrong places
Laughter quickly turning to tears
Any hope over shadowed by darkest fears
Mistaken identity and misunderstood
There's so much to learn about being 'good'
Drinks and lies
The devil's eyes
Deceit and blame
Always calling my name
Avoiding the crowd
that spoke too loud
Find work with a job
Don’t hang with a mob
Never ignore the words of a mother
She has a gift to teach you like no other!
Had all the right words
Mum had taught me well
Yet somewhere along the way I fell
I picked myself up and faced my demons
God has a purpose and my life has a reason
Through each battle had my share of loss
And much of my past life now lost
If I had a chance to make amends
It wouldn’t be with an ex-lover
Nor any old friend
I'd seek the child that once new my name
She new my home she knew my life
I was once her father's wife
I thought I'd done the best I could
Just as every mother should
But somewhere on the road we strayed
The bond we had was torn and frayed
Her anger obvious her frustration wild
No calming or reasoning could reach this child

Before The Night Is Over
Before the night is over
Let me tell you how much I care
Whatever happens later
I know your heart goes with me everywhere
Before the night is over
Hold my hand as I say a prayer in tears
For I looked the whole world over
Only to find you already here
Before the night is over
I want to share the stars with you
You are my dearest,
The one who loves me too
Before the night is over
I do not know our fate
As I watch you sleep tonight
I want to stay with you
Into the beautiful morning light
So kiss me tenderly
In your arms I want to stay
For all the tomorrows
Your life is part of me
Before the night is over
My soul shines in your eyes
Take me with you
To where ever you may be
Before the night is over
You are the only love I see

An Amazing Love. . .
Being here once again and seeing,
All the beauty of this place,
I feel an amazing love blesses,
And it's only by God's grace.
I yearn for those times so wonderful,
You picking for me a rose,
From these sweetly fragrant bushes when,
Suddenly we become close.
I look upon this beautiful home,
Dreaming we are here once more,
How I wish we could begin again,
You lifting me through the door.
Majestic feelings embrace my soul,
Just standing here breathlessly,
Remembering an amazing love,
Enveloping you and me.
You holding me in your arms always,
Whenever moments seem right,
When we could kiss and love anytime,
In God's own golden skylight.
We'd be together growing older,
Here reliving so much shared,
Our wonderful love that keeps us whole,
With God Oh how He has cared.
Without Him we wouldn't have our hope,
Nor would we love each other,
Reminiscing of these little things,
Wanting to be together.
Being here once again and seeing,
All the beauty of this place,
I feel an amazing love blesses,
As I yearn to see your face.

When you Look Upon Me
Lord when You look upon me,
Am I pleasing in your sight,
Have the things I've done,
Shown You in a good light?
Am I walking a narrow path,
Showing faith in God's power,
Willing to give a helping hand,
In another's needful hour?
Is my heart filled with love,
Does compassion flow within,
Will my life reflect Your Purity,
As a soul cleansed from sin?
Am I worthy of Your love Lord,
Do I show my love for You,
Giving thanks for Your Blessings,
Show Your gentleness to others too?
Lord when You look upon me,
In my darkest hour of despair,
Can You see I keep the faith,
Know in my heart that You are there?
When You look upon this heart of mine,
As I lay in deep restful sleep,
Are You pleased to count me Lord,
As one of Your many faithful sheep?
Have I earned the right to say,
I love my Lord with all my heart,
Will You gather me in Your arms,
When to heaven I one day depart?
Can I stand before You sweet Jesus,
Knowing I did the best I could do,
Strived to bring a lost soul to the river,
Of living waters flowing from You?
When You look upon me Father,
Will I be able to pass the test,
Has my life's journey reserved,
A seat in Heaven's Haven of rest?

That Someone Special
She is the apple of my eye,
The reason that I live,
She is all that I could wish for,
My heart to her I give.
It is for that someone special,
These words that I do pen,
To thank her for always being,
My wife and my best friend.
She has the will to live until,
The last breath she does take,
There is the love within her heart,
Such good memories to make.
She is the sunshine in my mornings,
The star that's in my sky
And if I should ever lose her,
Then I would surely die.
She stands always at my side,
No matter what comes our way,
She comforts me with steadfast love,
Each and every day.
She carries many burdens,
And her heart is sometimes broken,
By all the thanks she never gets,
And all the words unspoken.
She is kind and giving,
With a gentle touch,
That is one of the many reasons,
Why I love her so much.
I know her life is not her own,
I always seem so needy,
And asking her to do one more thing,
I feel so really greedy.
How can I ever thank her,
For all she has done for me?
I can only give her all my heart,
And love her to eternity.
I hope that when the end comes,
And she meets God face to face,
He will tell that in Heaven,
She has a special place.

On Gossamer Wings
On gossamer wings, traveling forever through
your mind,
Intriguing facts to know; I am sure you will
find,
Analyzing reflectively your wondrous thoughts
take flight,
Could it be what keeps you so wide-awake at
night?
Your mind travels to distant lands to see,
The hearts and souls of those who live within
your reverie.
These trips renew old, faded memories, on
gossamer wings.
Did you ever really know the one whose love this
memory brings?
Or was she lost to you from the very start?
Was all that you think of her you created in
your heart?
Cherish now the love that has kept you safe for
all these years,
Risk not what you have for what on gossamer
wings appears!

Best Birthday Gift Ever
Just heard it is your birthday.
Thought I would bake you a cake.
Since it will not fit into an envelope
a poem instead I will make.
With this poem comes a wish
that you have a great day.
My singing would frighten you
so Happy Birthday is all I will say.
May your day be filled
with recollections from the past.
Memories are a gift from God
that for a lifetime will last.
To those not here to celebrate,
remember them with a reflective tear.
We who celebrate another birthday
had God’s gift of life one more year.
Often the presents we receive,
give us a high and an emotional lift.
Having Jesus for your personal savior
is by far your most treasured birthday gift.

A Seasonal Transition
It looks like many hands waving a big goodbye
As the wind blows the colorful leaves on the
trees,
They are still on the twigs in their radiant
colors,
It is the Fall season, and the mold makes you
sneeze,
Jack Frost and Old Man Winter now start nipping
at your skin
As the colder temperatures are found in the
early morn,
The silver frozen crystals on the early morning
dew drops
Can be seen like a silver blanket on your lawn,
The transition of Fall to the Winter Season
Has begun and winter clothes we now need,
The leafless trees stand so erect and so tall,
As Winter's cold blast of snow and wind they all
heed.
A seasonal transition, all programmed by Him,
We have to accept what ever comes,
Like many hands waving the Fall season goodbye,
The leaves fall gently in the Winter sun,
